The main reason why I am not feeling that sad when we lost our volleyball game is that I concentrated more on my badminton competition. My mind is more focused on winning the badminton game for we are the defending champion. This time I played with a new partner. This time we did our chores, lol. What I mean is I and my partner practiced weeks ago. Although we just made it a part of our weekly exercise, still we had a chance to play together and comprehend each other’s moves. Of course this is important for we are a team. We must know both our weaknesses and strengths as a player. At least we have an idea of what to do when this day would come.

By this morning, there was still doubt on my partner’s side of whether she will really play. I told her that it’s her decision. If she would not play I could not play also for I have no other partner. Although I mentioned to her that there is something not good in my arm which I think would affect my game, still deep within me I wanted to play for a fact that previously I was one of the players of the defending champion so I must defend my title. I know it would be risky but still we had already prepared ourselves for this and we spend money for it as well as efforts in practicing. Then she just decided to play the game so we did play and luckily we won. It was a fantastic feeling. I am so happy that I am excited to buy souvenir t-shirts for my father, mother, brothers, sisters and boyfriend, lol.

The feeling of winning is really amazing. It’s like I don’t want to end this day. At least, we left a mark to those who saw us play. Yes! We won! I could not believe it myself and because of this I no longer have an idea on how to end this post.

These three days are our school’s celebration for constitutional week. This is the same as sportsfest in highschool. I have been a participant in this celebration for the past three to five years. My participation is focused on sports. I don’t join other intellectual games. I have been playing volleyball since I enrolled in our college. We won when we were in our first years; but were only second in our second year. On the third year, I did not play for I played table tennis at that time. Last year we lost also and this time, we lost again.

Honestly, I am not totally sad of our lost. Well of course I must admit that there is a feeling of a little bit uncomfortable and uneasiness within me. But there is no doubt that we would lose because we have no practice. Our game is not really the same as that when I was in highschool. The training at that time was more serious. This time we just play for the sake of participation. In fact it would be an ease if the team would reach to six players. Yes I know that volleyball must be played by six players however because most students in our college are already working, it is unlikely that they would participate in this kind of activity. So there are no strict rules in every game that the school had. So we lost. But I would say that its part of the game. Sometime you lose sometimes you win. All that matters is how you deal with your defeat.

As for me, I prepared beforehand that there is a possibility that we will be defeated but of course I am hoping that we would win. There is always another time may be not in school but in another venue, lol.

If you haven’t watched the television lately or checked out the internet, with regards to NBA basketball I would say that TRADE is definitely in. The latest trades for now are the following: Pau Gasol for the Lakers, Chris Webber for the Warriors and the most famous among them Shaquille O’neal for the Phoenix Suns. I must admit that I agree with the trading of Pau Gasol for the Lakers. It is my personal opinion that Kobe Bryant needs a center man who acts like Shaq during their winning moments. Yes it is true that Bynum is starting to make his own name but there is something in him that is still lacking. May be it is not yet Bynum’s time. I know that Bynum can do more however this is not just yet his time. The most controversial at this very moment is Shaq’s trade. Although Shaq has proved what he can do in the NBA I don’t think that Phoenix Suns need to do some trading or exchanging of its players. The latter team is capable of being a champion even without Shaq. They have all the players that every coach would ever want. If they would work harder Phoenix Suns will have its time of triumph.

With this trade-in a lot of new things await all the funs of the NBA. There would be greater expectations for those teams which have chosen to trade their previous player to someone; more so that the players themselves would be expected to play better than before. It seemed exciting to think who would win this season. But still I believe that this time would still be an adopting stage for those players who where transferred from one team to another. Maybe the next season will be the best game to watch.

I wish them all good luck in their games. I hope that their trade will really improve the team’s ranking. Since both the team and the players accepted this kind of deal all they have to do now is play hard and aim high!

I am not really a busy person. I am a student yet I don’t study that often. However, there are other things that I need to do like household chores. Two or three days ago the NBA game schedule was Lakers vs. Wizards. Surprisingly, I feel lucky that day for I was able to watch Kobe’s game. Last Sunday February 3, 2008 was a normal day as far as I am concerned. In the morning, I was just watching television and eating and chatting and eating again. In the afternoon, however, I was scheduled to play badminton together with a classmate. It was a nice game as well as a good exercise for my body. I realized that they were watching a boxing bout between Borres and Darchanyan which was held in Cebu, Philippines. At the inception of the game, it immediately became interesting because Gorres fell not due to the fact that he was punched by his opponent but rather he was allegedly cheated by the latter. The arena became so noisy that the audience threw an empty plastic container to the boxing ring so much more that the referee ruled for a knockdown which as we all know is a big deduction to Gorres. May be because Gorres is from the Philippines and the bout was held in the same country that the audience was so emotional upon the same. They kept on shouting “boo” to Darchanyan. In addition to that the boxing style or technique of the latter was really different from the usual boxing player which made the audience more angry and doubtful about the fight. The game ended with the two boxers still standing. However, the boxer from Australia won the game so much so that the audience threw again another container towards the boxing ring.

I am a Filipino but I do not agree to the way the audience reacted in the game. There is no way that we could identify who threw those plastic containers. Either way, the act cannot be countenanced. The boxer from Australia should be given the benefit of the doubt. Although his methods are so different from the usual game that we see on different boxing events it does not necessarily follow that he intentionally did the same. On the other hand, even if his act was intentional, it does not give us the right to throw anything to the boxing ring. It is so unethical. We must be ashamed of that actuation. We must learn to control our emotions. Filipinos are known to be accommodating and respectful. It is at these kind situations that we should apply the same.
